The Fear of Commitment (When You Want to Do It All)
The fear of commitment is a pretty natural response when you’re the type of person to be interested in many different things. There are so many potential passions to explore so why would you sacrifice them all to pursue just one?
So instead, you dip your toes in everything- or anything, but never submerge enough to be any more than merely good enough. It makes complete sense, too, until it’s 10pm at night and you’re staring at your ceiling feeling scattered, believing you’re falling behind to your peers who were able to choose that one thing and stick to it.
“You have to choose one interest to pursue at some point,” people tell you, “You have the drive, I can see you being amazing at whatever you CHOOSE.”
I believed this statement until I came across a trend online, where people posted reels of a montage of clips featuring their various pursuits. One girl in particular inspired me as she was older than me, but still had a mixture of creative and active hobbies she was involved with. She genuinely loved all her passions and refused to box herself in.
This online trend changed everything for me. It wasn’t flashy or a super popular trend but it lit a fire. It made me realise the great influence social media can have when used right. Not as a comparison trap or a boasting opportunity, but as a platform to expand people’s beliefs about what’s possible.
Today, social media has grown to be more than just entertainment. When used with intention, it can be a tool for growth, for balance, for guidance and for proving that yes- it is possible to achieve that goal you had, even if it’s to be a master of all trades.

How Social Media Can Be Used for Good
Inspiration for Growth
Social media has the power to plant seed’s in a consumer’s mind. A reel, a story or a simple caption can shift a person’s entire mindset. It is a friendly reminder that people can dream big, act brave and believe in their own growth.
Free Education
Platforms like instagram and youtube are rich with content that can empower people to build skills and grow in all areas of life.
Building A Tribe
Social media brings connection. It allows the opportunity to build a community of like-minded, driven humans who are constantly motivating and cheering each other on.
Redefining Identity
Social media allows people to embrace their own styles, taste and personality. You can be a gym junkie and an artist. It allows self-expression beyond shallow limits.
When people share their journey- including the start and the messy parts- it allows people to resonate and realise these influencers are human too. Authentic storytelling builds bridges. Not walls.
